AEA Scholarship Program

The Alberta Electrical Alliance is proud to support our industry with over $273,300 
of postsecondary scholarships for current members and their children. Your participation in AEA events helps fund AEA scholarships and build our industry's future.

Scholarship Program Details

AEA Scholarships and Corporate Scholarships are available to dependents of AEA member companies in good standing.   Fill out the below application for both AEA and Corporate, so ONE application only.

For region specific scholarships (ie. Calgary), the employee of the AEA member company must live and work in the corresponding region (ie. parent must live and work in Calgary)

Corporate sponsored scholarships  are open to children of parents working for any member company located throughout Alberta.  Some Corporate Scholarships have specific criteria.  Click on "Learn about" on the Corporate donors link.  

Students are not required to attend school in Alberta.

You only have to fill out one scholarship application. Please identify the scholarship(s) you believe you qualify to be considered for on the application form below.

Students must be attending or planning to attend an accredited university, college or postsecondary educational institute on a full-time basis, including apprenticeship.

If you have been awarded an AEA scholarship in the past you cannot apply again.

*(The Alberta Electrical Alliance reserves the right to remove a scholarship if it does not receive enough applicants and/or deems applicant(s) are below the standard laid out in this application)

Application Checklist

Applications must be received by AEA by July 31, 2023.
Applicants must complete all items listed below. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  1. Fill out the application form below.
  2. Attachments to the application:
    1. Verification of acceptance to the accredited university, college or postsecondary educational institute you attend or plan to attend on a full-time basis.
    2. Field of study calendar excerpt and/or program brochure showing program content and tuition fee.
    3. Your recent transcript.
    4.  Essay – please discuss the use of the scholarship, your interest in your intended field of study, educational goals and plans and goals upon graduation. The essay must be typed, double spaced, and no more than two pages.
    5. Provide two letters of recommendation; one letter of which should be from the applicant’s teacher or employer/supervisor. Both letters should address the applicant’s overall character, class participation, and academic potential.

Criteria for selection

The selection committee will evaluate each applicant according to the following criteria established by the AEA.    (If you applied for a Corporate  Donors Scholarship, they will review your application and some are offering additional employment and mentoring).

  • Community service/school activities/volunteering
  • Employment
  • Field of study
