Alberta Electrical Alliance
Women's Network

WHAT IS THE AEA
WOMEN'S NETWORK?

As a member of the Alberta Electrical Alliance, you have the strength of an industry at your back. We work to advance the business and professional interests of our members — all of our members. It's no secret that women are underrepresented in skilled trades, including the electrical industry. But the women who have chosen our industry are powerful and inspiring. We need more of them.

That's why we created the AEA Women's Network. It's not just about connecting the women who are already working in the electrical industry (although we do that and it's a lot of fun), we're looking to send a message to any woman considering  joining our industry:
You are our future.

47.7%

of the Canadian workforce is female.

3.7%

of skilled tradespeople are women.

10%

of Canadian apprentices are women.

<5%

of female apprentices will enter male-dominated trades.

What does the AEA Women's Network do?

Connection

We host a variety of AEA Women's Network events throughout the year. These events allow us to connect with each other and provide a platform for female thought-leaders to speak on topics ranging from leadership to self-defence, career building to public speaking, and so much more.

Education

We believe education is the foundation for success. We offer training and educational sessions to ensure that women's voices are heard in our industry and that their professional goals are being achieved. Knowledge is power — and we have a lot of powerhouses in our network.

Mentorship

Whether you're in trade school, working in the field or landed your first gig at a corporate office, navigating a male-dominated industry can be intimidating. That's why we're here. We're women who have found success in Alberta's electrical industry; we can offer experience and guidance along the way.

“The question isn’t who’s going to let me;
it’s who is going to stop me.”
